When I finally got to proper free roam/do what I want part of the game I had to grind 4 levels to continue the plot. Then I figured out story progression is level locked. It makes a more balanced experience in theory. At first I thought it was just armor and weapons to control stats which is fine(though you can upgrade gear at the smithy using money and items to make them equivalent of the next tier). The biggest stand out thing is this game locks things behind character level. Guards can take a whole minute to go from one side of their patrol to another so if you get unlucky with your timing, this segment can take a long time of you just sitting there, doing nothing since you can’t progress until they get to where you need them. The game has an early stealth segment where you need to dodge guard sight lines. Your few naturally learned spells either don’t do enough more to be worth it, or are just to expensive for repeated casting without chugging potions. Combat wise it’s very basic, to the point they give you an auto battle option that you might as well use since you aren’t going to use your small skill pool very often until near the end of the game. This is apparently the first in a series and it ends pretty well. There’s some effort with motivations and plotting and it keeps moving at a decent pace until you get to the grinding bit. Honestly the story is actually probably the highlight. After a horrendous welcome to the place, she eventually gets captured and the real (standard) corrupt noble plot starts. You are Luna, a mercenary with a strong sense of Justice! She learns of a village that gets attacked by monsters daily and since her town won’t help, badgers the lord of the town and gets permission to go scout the place and try to help.
